PRESIDENTS COMMENT

Congratulations from the club to our high performing Olympians. Daniel's lead off in the Men’s 4x100 Medley ensured a place in the final and then a brilliant 5th in a record breaking race. Mark's lead off in the Men’s 4x100 freestyle helped the NZ team to 11th place in a NZ record time - the 3 rd best NZ performance in the pool.

Brilliant efforts guys and Coach Donna. Thanks for all the newsletters and pictures it made WAQ members feel part of the games. Attention was back at the Water Cube as Daniel Sharp and Cameron Leslie competed in the Paralympics under the guidance of Coach Simon Mayne. Cameron won Gold in the 150IM in a WR time for his class which backed up a Silver for Daniel Sharp.

Back home we hope this lifts the aims of all our swimmers and you train like future Olympians as you aim at PBs and qualifying for Auckland Juniors and Age Groups at the end of this year. Big thanks to Chris Ashley, Shana Lang and several club members who have ensured sessions ran smoothly while Donna and Simon have been away with teams

Short Term Rental Property Required

If anybody knows of a short term rental property for a family in the Albany/Whenuapai/Westgate/Massey or Henderson area, please contact David Jack or Donna Bouzaid. This will be required by end of September.

Changes to Training Times*

* Please note that while every effort is made to identify changes to training times (normally due to pool availability) it is inevitable that from time to time last minute changes do occur. Please ensure that you check your email and the club website (when website development is completed) for changes to training times. Squad Managers may also contact you to advise.

REMINDER – JAGS

Please remember that due to pool availability some changes to JAGS times have had to be made. The normal weekly schedule for those in the JAGS squad is:

• Tuesday: 4-.30 – 6.00pm
• Wednesday: 5.00 – 7.00pm
• Thursday: 5.30 – 7.30pm. Land training starts at 5.15pm.
• NOTE: The 3 rd Wednesday of each month training is 5.00 – 6.30pm
• Friday: 5.00 – 6.30pm

SWIM MEETS AT WAQ ON A SATURDAY MORNING

Elite, Youth, Tags, Aquafit – Please note- When there is a swim meet on a Saturday, training will be from 6-00am-8.00am. (5.45am for stretching) All other Saturdays are 6.15am-8.30am

MEET RESULTS

It has been thoroughly exciting watching the Level 3 swimmers at the last 2 meets. I have had the privilege of being the Team Manager and have really enjoyed the team spirit poolside. A number of swimmers have recently qualified for Level 2, under the guidance of Coach Chris Ashley, but ALL swimmers have done a great job for themselves and their club.
